If the current battlespace is the location for the event, it can shower rocks over the battlefield, as well as create more space, essentially extending the battlefield. A loud boom and grinding noises, trees falling over. This will manifest in one of two ways:Īgain, like the ship, if nobody is around, you will hear and feel the collision. However, on rare occasions one of those backdrops will collide in to the current player Island. These islands would technically be a playerspace but inaccessable. So the background would have numerous flowing islands aside from the static skybox texture. ![]() The trees could be set ablaze and it would make for a very tense environment. If the crash occurs around the active battlefield, it will shower flaming debris across the field, dangerous to both Slayer and behemoth alike. If no players are around, it will make for a spectacular backdrop. ![]() This will rain debris across the area near the ship crash. However, every so often, a not so skilled airship pilot could make a grave miscalculation and crash into an island in the background. Occasionally an airship will fly by or above the players current battleground. Because the Maelstrom is where everyone is trying to go to make a name for themselves, there needs to be a feeling of population. I say passive because it could either effect a completely different side of the island, or semi active because it could drastically change the battlefield. I was reading a bit about the nature of the state of the Maelstrom and I get the impression that it's supposed to be an extremely chaotic place. So I did the first five Maelstrom patrols needed to progress closer to endgame, and aside from the difficulty of the new behemoths, it seemed that there wasn't much difference between the Maelstrom islands and the regular islands. ![]()
